Andreana "Ana" Fleming, Kidney Transplant Recipient, 12/30/91 - 12/6/2010, Anniston, AL

Andreana M. Fleming (known as “Ana” to most) was a Honors graduate of Saks High School C/O 2010. She lived with chronic kidney problems that began at the age of 10. However she never allowed that adversity to deter her from living her life full of hopes, dreams, joy and faith. She was known for her infectious smile and zeal for life and was an inspiration to all that knew her.

Despite dealing with kidney failure, frequent doctor visitand surgeries and hospital stays, dialysis treatments, and frequent absence from school, Ana was determined to finish high school and attend college. She had chosen her college at age 14. Ana received a Kidney Transplant in July 2006 which allowed her to enjoy a full and exciting 4 years of high school as a normal teenager. In July 2010, she lost the function of the transplant kidney which caused her to resume dialysis while awaiting another transplant.

Despite that complication, she moved away to college in the Fall of 2010 as she had always desired. Although her health began to decline and she experience other medical complications which again required extensive hospital stays, she worked with her instructors and advisors to stay abreast of her college class work until Nov. 2010.

Being weak in health, she decided to move back home and try college again when she was stronger. Unfortunately, her body was physically weaker than her mind and she transitioned to her new home in Heaven Dec. 6, 2010.
