Andrew J. "Buddy" Rogers



Andrew J. “Buddy” Rogers, 88, of Poteau, OK passed away Saturday, September 24, 2011 at his home in Poteau. Buddy was born August 20, 1923 in Bokoshe, OK to Burl & Mattie (Tolbert) Rogers. He was a pot ash miner. Buddy served in the US Army in the Battle of the Bulge under General Patton. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Poteau, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ronald Rogers; grandson, Michael Hughie; great grandson, Buddy Hughie; sisters, Bernice Conti, Marie McCafferty, Lila Davis & Jackie Restine.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Dimple; daughters, Joyce & Jack Barbaree of Panama, OK, Deloris Hughie of Poteau, OK; grandchildren, Julie Hughie Hicks, Tonia Rogers, Denise & Roger Jones, Robert Meier, Stephanie & Jessie Puentez, Jon Rogers, Mattie Rogers, Zachary Rogers; great grandchildren, Dennis Hicks, Jenny Claiborn, Waylon Parrott, Vance Parrott, Tyler Hayes, Dustin Hayes, Cassie Hayes, Garrett Rogers, Jayton Toros, Kaylee Puentez, McKinzie Puentez, Logan Rogers, Alexis Hughie; numerous Great Great Grandchildren;
other relatives & loved ones; many beloved friends.

Services will be 2:30 pm, Saturday, October 1, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Poteau with Rev. Jim Cook & Rev. Phil McGehee officiating. Interment will follow in Old Bokoshe Cemetery, Bokoshe, OK. Pallbearers will be Dennis Hicks, Dustin Hayes, Waylon Parrott, Vance Parrott, Jeremy Oliver, Randy Mc Kinney, Phil Partain. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Bill Willis, Phillip Streetman, Greg Claiborn, Johnny Bell, David Black, Doug, Joe & Charles Henderson & R.D. Bryant.

The family will be at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6-8 pm to visit with relatives & friends.
