Rewind again-- CA Vacation!

Sheesh. I know this is always the excuse, but life really is crazy! Has it really been two weeks since my last update? Honestly, the days just speed by!

I have so much to catch up on, so I'm hoping to schedule some good old fashioned one-on-one time with my computer these next few days in the hopes that my online journal will be at least somewhat accurate. One can always hope, right?

So, some news: my last day at my current employment will be May 29th. I have mixed emotions about this-- I'm excited to try the SAHM gig-- it has been almost 7 years, after all-- but I'm anxious, too. I'm sure the right opportunities will come along and I'm quite aware that my faith is being tested right now. Logically, I know that Chris and I have had our struggles in the past, but we have always come through it and I know that this situation will be no different. Emotionally, however, I'm a little less sure. Wish me luck.

It's May and Spring has finally come to stay in Logan. It's quite beautiful and the weather has been fantastic. A couple of weeks ago, when Chris had a furlough night off, we went to the local park/zoo/fishing pond and spent the day. Chris and the boys caught four trout in about 30 minutes time and we played at two separate playgrounds and ate snow cones. I can't really imagine a better way to spend a Spring day and I felt truly grateful.

Backing up to our April vacation, after our visit with my grandpa and Sue, we drove a short 90 minutes Southwest to Chris's sister Heidi's home in Danville. We had so much fun visiting the Myers family-- Andy and Heidi were fantastic hosts and as
you can see by the massive group hug, our kids are in heaven with these sweet cousins!

Our first stop was the Oakland Zoo-- a very nice, well-kept and nicely sized zoo in the hills of Oakland. The weather was perfect for animal viewing and we saw tigers and giraffes and monkeys and turtles... oh my, it was fun! I love going to zoos-- the kids stay happily entertained by the animals while the adults can enjoy a leisurely stroll around the park.

Here is my favorite picture from our zoo trip-- I think it's just so cool.

Cute, silly little Gar-bear. :)

And sweet Neilly with his luscious locks.

You can't see any giraffes in this picture, but here we are in front of their enclosure. Why is it that I'm the only one who can pull a smile here?

I also really love this picture and the whole brother-sister-children thing.

This zoo was particularly fun because a little amusement park is right next door. If you've ever tried to take pictures of kids on amusement park rides, you understand why I'm not including any in this post! We had a fun time, though, especially on the little train that took us around the perimeter of the zoo.

After the zoo, we quickly drove by the Oakland Temple. This was a neat, full-circle experience for me. 30 years ago, my mom and dad were married here, and it was fun to bring their sweet little posterity to the place where it all began. We sent my dad a cell phone picture from the temple and I think it made his day. :)

That's it from our trip for now. Tomorrow this little booger (hee) turns FOUR. Sweet little stinker.
