Besides my usual busy-ness I have been preoccupied with healing from being attacked by a dog. My husband is against me talking about this at length on the Internet lest I wind up being a plaintiff in a lawsuit. But how can I keep such a thing to myself and off this blog?
It's been a week and a half and the summary is this. I was taking a fitness walk and about a hundred feet from my house I was attacked by what I'm told is a pit bull and border collie mix. Yes, it was on a leash but no, the dog walker did not control it. There was no warning, no bark, no growl, nothing, just a big chomp into my thigh muscle which shocked me to say the least.
So far I've ridden in an ambulance to an ER and received treatment. It got infected and my doctor referred me to an infectious disease specialist. The healing is not over yet.
Oh, and the dog was past due for its rabies shot so a quarantine occurred. The dog was said to be negative so I have been spared the expensive rabies vaccination.
I also won't have to worry that the neighbor's dog will attack me again as the family has surrendered it to the county to be euthanized as "they feel it's a liability risk to their family".
I have had multiple days on full bedrest as I was unable to stand up, and other days where I sat down in certain comfortable chairs all day. This week it flared up worse and different than what was happening before, and after the doctor checked it he said it will be another month of recovery and I can't do full physical activity, must limit standing and absolutely no exercise for fitness. I can't even lay on my right side or sit in certain positions.
The doctor said at any moment it could infect. I have deep crushing injury wounds with three-dimensional internal bruises and blood pools that my body needs to either expel or re-absorb. Wonderful!
So that is one of the big things I've been dealing with in the last two weeks which has taken me away from being in front of my computer writing and blogging. It's a good thing I had a bunch of blog posts ready to publish before that bite occurred.
Meanwhile I'm taking it easy, chomping down vitamins and supplements to boost my immune system and praying that my body heals quickly.
